Juan Conde Pena’s Life 7 Presentado por; Iris de La Rosa Vélez, 2014       Manufactured homes were not for us After checking in the manufactured homes’ office, we found out that we had to pay approximately $700.00 maintenance fee a month to live there in addition to the purchase price. Therefore, we concluded that if we made a loan to buy the house we would not have enough to pay for the maintenance fee. For this reason, we discarded that idea and moved with a lady who wanted us to take care of her houses while she was away in Europe. At the beginning we enjoyed our stay there because we had an entire house for ourselves. It was very comfortable and was located in a good neighborhood. Additionally, I had the opportunity to water her plants, plant some fruit trees and mow the lawn. I didn’t mind doing this because I needed something to do. I had not been to church since the accident, and my spirit needed the nourishment that is only received through the communion with the saints. As if inspired by God, a church member came to visit; and while we talked, he said that the church was waiting for my return. Although I was still unable to walk without the help of my crutches, one evening I ventured out to church. It was an unforgettable experience when I noticed the joy in the members’ faces. The joy they felt was so genuine that one of them took me in his arms, carried me downstairs, and set me down at the church’s front door. It was a very special place where we felt the Lord’s presence. Many times we had to close the chairs and move them away from the worship area because the worshippers began to dance in the Spirit. The Holy Ghost manifestation was an indication to start having some evangelistic campaigns in order to win more members for Christ. We also continued praying and fasting in our quest to get closer to God. A Sunday morning while I was praying and fasting, I had a vision. In this vision, I was transported to a church that was located on a mountain – I could clealy see the large stairs in front of the church; and on those stairs, I could see a group of young people that permeated my whole being. Since I was attending church, I decided to direct all my efforts to do the Lord’s work. With that in mind, I began my studies in a Bible Institute, and I spent more time evangelizing. When my pastor noticed my dedication in the Lord’s work, he selected me as his assistant pastor. By that time, I had already served in the Sunday biblical school as a teacher and as superintendent.
